Started working on replacing Terra alum steering with 1.50DOM.Took it apart & found this.

TRE's are fine but has shallow chatter marks in knuckles.WTF do I do with this?

Is this a tappered hole or is it strait through? It doesn't really matter. When you tighten the TRE the shaft going through the knuckle does not move or spin in any way. The groving should not effect anything it is not a race for a bearing or anything like that. The only way I could see this happening to your knuckle would be if there was some movment in the shaft going through the knuckle. The TRE had to be wigglin in there somehow. Sometimes when you swap tie rods or knuckles the nut on the TRE will bottom out on the shaft of the TRE before it has tightend all the way down on the knuckle. The easiest way to fix that would be to put a washer thats larger than the shaft on the TRE on the same side as the nut and it should stop the nut from bottoming on the shaft instead of the knuckle. Could it be from where it was reamed? When i reamed mine it kinda chattered if i didn't do it right and it cut ridges into the knuckle.

some NAPA stores carry stuff called "race lock" its like lock tite on steroids

put some in, tighten the tre down and forget about it the stuff will swell up filling the voids
