Im going to be starting a flat bed for my Toyota and was hoping to use LED lighting to illuminate the bed area for ease of trail repairs or back at the camp site doing whatever. I was thinking of using 2.25x6 LED lights mounted in the upper corners of the main hoop, right behind the cab, to do this. I know that the easiest way to work it would be to use regular fog lights but I want to keep the power consumption low with the LED's.
Is anyone using this or a similar setup? Pics would be awesome as well! A friend of mine drew up these brackets in CAD to mount them and I think they look pretty slick!
hmmmm...hadnt thought of that. Either run them inside that plastic shielding or inside a piece of rubber tubing. Would there really be that much chafing? Motorcycles have tons of wires running through the tubes of them and I haven't heard of any problems with that.
Use a vacuum cleaner and string to start pulling the wires. No need for any protection inside, just a grommet at each end. This is super common to do with wakeboard boats and the tower speakers, lights, etc.
I found them pretty cheaply on Ebay actually. I picked up a set of Red and a Set of White last night for $65 shipped with pig tails and grommets. Figured Ill try the white ones out to see if they are bright enough and if not ill just get regular white truck lights to put up in the top of the main hoop. Definatly using them for backup and brake/tail/turn lights though. If i decide to go with LED's up top Ill be able to get a set of those for about $40 shipped.
