what design are the bolts holding the crank position sensor into the bellhousing on a jeep 6 cylinder (xj)? I need to change them, and I cant see em....feel em...figure out wtf is going on with em?
The crank position sensor on the 4.0L sits on the bell housing of the transmission on the driver's side. The connector attaches to the wiring harness at the back of the valve cover, intake manifold side. I found the best way of removing it is from underneath. I used a stubby 3/8" ratchet with two 9" wobbly extensions and one 6" wobbly with an 11 mm 6-point socket, normal height, attached.
I found that if you undo the tranfercase cross mount from the uni body you can give yourself a little more room. Make sure you keep the mount/t-case supported with a jack.
Then use the tools mentioned above.
