Due to clearence issues with the gas tank, I need to re-do the upper link setup on my factory 4-link with panhard. The stock upper links are only 7/8" O.D. but they interfere with the gas tank at full droop.
I'm trying to avoid cutting up the gas tank. Is there any reason to worry about running an offset tube on the links? Never seen it done....like this.
What's the rig? If built properly, it might work, depends on how heavy of a rig and how hard it gets wheeled. Is it not possible to build a new link with a bend in it, to clear the gas tank? That is done all of the time.
It's going in the rear of a Pathfinder. I won't say the rig gets wheeled too hard compared to what a lot of guys are doing, but I do use it fairly rough. I've still got shitty IFS up front. The stock rear upper links are super short and I'm looking at ways to make them a few inches longer. Here's passenger side:

After looking at it a little more it seems like the way to go is cutting the gas tank. For some reason nissan used a flat 1" seam that goes the entire way around the gas tank. Seems like it could be cut and re welded without really modifying the tank.
Pull your tank and see how far back on that seam the stock weld is. I was able to grind my toy tank down some when I moved it to the back and between the frame rails. I wasn't able to trim the ford tank in my Fj40 though.
Now that I see your suspension, are you talking about just shifting the link material on the current bushings? that should work with some gussets on the ends. I was picturing something a little different from your drawing.
