someone today told me that you can stick a 350 crank in a 400sb and it will run like a bat outta hell. have any of yall ever heard this before? and if so why dont more people do it?
great circle track and race motor where you want high long revs and dont require alot of torque. not really good for stomping on and heavy rig luanching.
would probably rape the jap cars of the same weight.
and this is just an idea that i thought of but what would you get if you took a 383 stroker crank and put it in a 400? or a ___(place whatever a 400 stroked is there) crank in a 350?
If I remember right a 383 is a 400 crank in a 350 block. Can't remember if the crank is turned to 350 main size ro if the block is line bored 400 mainsize. The 377 uses spacer bearings to make the difference in main sixe with the 350 crank in the 400 block.
A 383 stroker is a 400 crank with the crank turned to fit in the 350 mains. Also the block is bored .030.You use the 350 balancer and flex/fly wheel.
Another cool stroker is a 392.Same as above exept you use 327 rods and have the rod journals turned down offset to match the rod size and give a longer stroke.
o im goin with a 454 :] and then some gears but someone was tellin me about it the other day and i had never heard of it and was wonderin if it was really as good as he made it sound
Hot Rod did a build up on a 383 and it made 500HP now I think they got it to around 600HP
