whats a dana 70 worth
i think i posted this before but it got moved or something and never seen the answer
i got a rear 35 spline dana 70 with 373 gears that came out of a double rear wheel mid 70s F350 box truck. ive posted it on a ebay a few times and on this and other truck sites and no takers. is it cause its a dual wheel axle or is this just a unwanted axle? |

I posted a thread about my dana 70( i couldnt identify it),but everyone seem to agree i got a good axle.It was from a srw chevrolet 1-ton.I think i made a pretty good upgrade from a 14-bolt sf.The biggest complaint was the aftermarket upgrades for a 70 vs. a 14-bolt ff.There really isnt any for a 70 and all i've seen is expensive.

yeah i noticed that too. i was thinking of spooling this thing and throwing it under my blazer and i couldnt find any spools made for it.
i just wonder if its cause its off a dual wheel truck or whatever. im starting to sell of a bunch of junk i have to make up for all the money im spending on the 14bolt/d60 swap im doing |

heres the older pictures of it. the axle is at work so i cant go outside and just snap pictures of it
and just so you know, this thing was sitting under a box truck for about 7-8 years before i got it, but at least it was out of the weather but im sure it needs brakes and to be gone through. i planed on putting it under a suburban i had when i broke the 10bolt but that never happened http://chevytruckworld.tenmagazines....285&album=6501 edit...also, shouldnt be that big of a deal but two lug studs are broken off as you can see in one of the pictures. with the d70 and the strength or whatever i'm not too positive on it, i mean you could build a 14 bolt to meet or exceed one with less weight..
as for the reason its not selling is probably from height, ground clearance, and the dual wheel setup. I'm not well informed on the dual wheel and everything but i think it will sit too wide to be remotely close to the front, but i'm probably way off. |

Really only good for someone's hauling rig. Have a 70 in the rear of my car hauler & like it. If you weren't so far away, I'd pick it up for $100 or so.

i pulled the cover off today but forgot the camera. the gears and everything inside the axle are fine and look no different then the pictures in that link. the inside of the cover by the filler plug has some of that fuzzy rust that will come off with a wire wheel thats about it.
i was even lookin on ebay yesterday and all the d70s had no bid on it. well if anyone wants it let me know |
