6bt diesel engine into chevy 3500 gaser

i got a 88 chevy 3500 want to diesel it with a 6bt got one eyed on ebay right now but oil pan sump is faceing forward toward frount of engine is this reversable? maybe with different oil pick up tube? neer this info asap thanks, AL TrdShowAL@sbcglobal.net 7;38pst

I'm not sure what application would have used a front sump, but I can tell you that the Dodge Cummins applications have a rear sump oil pan on them. Worst case you would need a different oil pan and pickup tube.

ok, what i'm seeing it on is gen.(2) 6bt's seem to have it in frount, gen.1 in rear? the engine that im looking at is on ebay it from a bus with older allison tranny gots a p7100 inj.pump seems all i've seen so far are like this? dose anyone know "for sure" that i could just do pan change and pick up tube and be on my way? just can afford buying wronge items. thanks AL

It sounds like its from a ford school bus. I don't know why they would be different internally. I have yet to see one that is different. The 6bt block is the same for a variety of applications. So a factory 6bt rear sump pan and pickup would probably solve your problem.

If it were me, I would call my local cummins parts house and ask them. They have more diagrams then I do. How much are you getting this deal for? Worst case you can resell it for a profit.
