Rockwell Suspension Advice?

I am researching a build for a spare extended cab Dakota I have sitting around. I am looking at doing a full cage in it to stiffen the frame up. Anyways I have access to a couple of rockwells and possibly some military tire and wheels or maybe some tractor tires. My question is what would be the most basic suspension to use that will work for a trail truck other than leafs? I was thinking frotn and rear 3-link either triangulated or with a panhard bar. Or maybe a radius arm similar to what is on a 4x4 dodge. Either way I was thinking about using coils instead of coilovers due to the price of coilovers? What do you think?

Thanks
