here is a good one and another must have link
On page 5 he shows a good way of welding the cut housing. I need to suck it up and narrow mine.

your kidding right, the long side is 7.5'' longer than short side shaft. to the OP check out the buggy that used a stub shaft for a inner, jason.

It sounds like you know what you are doing, but I have my hubs flipped on my rockwells under my 4runner and I dont think I would want it to be any narrower. Just a thought, but if you have narrow trails to deal with you might have a different build in mind.

yea im still learnin on these rockwells there arnt to many people runnin them up here in wash i am puttin a set under my j-3000 on chevy frame with 49's right now it is made to go in the mud pretty much but i will take it where ever i can squeeze it damage isint an issue. I am still undecided on flippin the hubs or norrowing the axle i am building my own wheels so backspacing isnt a biggy either my rig is kinda like the guiny pig we try all the fab work on it

Flip the hubs and your wheel mounting surface is the same as full width 1 ton stuff. Make your own wheels and you are set. Narrowing them is cool, but it seems like a lot of work if its not needed!!
