33" Tires for competition?
I'm looking for good tires for use in competition on rock and man made concrete courses.
- 15" rim size - DOT Approved - Must say 33" on sidewall - Ideally 12.5" or narrower I currently have 285/75x16 Trxus and they have performed ok, but if there's something better out there I want to check them out. I have no concern for street ride quality or how many miles I can get from them. I also don't want to loose turning radius so I'd prefer a 12.5" or narrower tire. The tires will be mounted in 15x8 rims with Staun beadlocks. Front WMS is stock (with small hub kit) and rear is 62". Rig is a Jeep TJ. So far I have on my list : * Super Swamper TSL 33x12.5x15 Interco claims these are really 33.7" which I view as an advantage. There don't seem to be any sidewall lugs and they are not siped, but I'm assuming I can fix the lack of siping with a grooving tool. * Super Swamper LTB 33x13.5x15 These run a little smaller 32.8" and I'm guessing that extra inch in width could cost a small amount of turning radius - which does matter!. So that's 2 strikes against this one. Is there anything that makes this a clear winner even with those strikes? * Goodyear MTR Please post up your comments on these tires and any others I should consider. Thanks! |

Yeah, moving to a true 12.5 tire might be good as your Trxus are something like an inch narrower.
You are probably fine with any Interco tire, but make sure you check the specs of any tire you buy. As you seem to know, "33" on the sidewall does not mean they are 33" tall. Some 33's are .5 + inches below that while some can run "tall." |
