Removing welds???

I know I can remove welds using a Ace/ox torch but can I do this using a regular torch? Also how hot can I get the axle without wrecking it? (Fully Assembled.)

Regular torch what do you mean? And it depends on how much you are removing, perches are no problem unless its like a samurai with 1/8 inch axle tubes

no, you can't do it without the oxygen. You'll most likely melt the seals or at least burn the gear oil into something solid.use a cutoff wheel or sawzall if you can't get an oxy/acet torch

what is Ace fuel? I have removed perches and brackets with a torch that was running acetylene. i have also used mapp too and both worked fine. I didnt melt through anything i wasn't aiming for. You just gotta be good with the torch .

I'd suggest a cut off wheel, grinder or Sawzall. With heat you have the potiental to wreck seal, blow a hole in the axle tube or warp something.

Gouging rods in an arc welder can be very effective and quick as well.

Use a torch with the smallest tip on it.
