Couple Qestions About My 97 GMC - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

Recently just bought this truck so bare with me. I have 2 questions that would be great if anyone could answer them.

1st. My transfer case is going bad, its an NP241, I bought an NP243 thinking it was a 241, well obviously its not, my fault for not paying attention. But my question is, can i rebuild my 241 with the parts from the 243? or simply just swap casings on them???

2nd. The truck has 6" suspension lift, and 3" body lift, came with wore out 37x13.5x15 super swampers, I NEED new tires, but whats the smallest you guys would you go with this size lift?
