4 link suspension on road
Been kicking around the idea of 4 link suspension atleast for the front end for my truck with either just coil or coil over. I was woundering how do the handle on road my buddy said some handle it good but other designs will not do good for on road. And the design that i was leaning towards was the one that handled like shit. Just woundering how do your guys handle on road.

it is possible to fail at building a four link, same as you can fail at anything
what design did you have in mind? what kind of steering system do you want to run? the steering kinda dictates what you use for a lateral locating device, crossover with a steering box favours a panhard rod for locating I like Odin's chevy 3 link front end design as it is pretty close to what I would build |

Would this be like a 3 link set up. The stick that is running straight across the page is the axle. The black dots are where the would mount on the frame or axle. Sorry first of all new to the whole link suspension still learning. Also sorry for shotty pictures i tried

If your going 3 link you might consider two lowers and one upper. The trouble with 3 or 4 link set ups on full bodied rigs is there's usually little to no room to fit the upper links. I'd start researching link set ups and see what other people have done. Once you've decided how you want to go about it then run your numbers in the link calculator here:/forum/general-4x4-discussion/204893-new-version-my-4-link-analyzer-request-help.html
That will give you some baseline measurements to start your build. Of course what the link calculator says and what you can fit is a different story so you'll just have to build it as close as you can.

not good for normal crossover steering when the axle goes up and down with that wishbone locating it, it stays centered under the truck. for a rear axle that is a great design, but for a normal crossover steering setup the drag link travels in an arc as the suspension moves up and down, so it will bump steer using that locating device |

Heres a 4 link set up my buddy is running under his dodge ram. The axle being the black dot and the little box being where the links mount to under the body. This is another set up i've been considering.

that works if you want a super tall vehicle
the dropped down subframe seems to make the tall truck thing useless IMO as you lost all the ground clearance that you were trying to gain suck everything up as close to the frame as possible, sometimes it wont go as close as you would like |

Here is the last set up i can think of this is the one that i've been leaning towards also a lot of guys on this site has this one. But this is the one that my buddy with the ram tells me it handles like spit on the road.

front or rear axle? steering will suck on the front axle unless you go hydro steer.
other wise that is a great suspension and is found in every manufacturers vehicles, ford/chevy/dodge cars since the 50s, so it cant be that bad. you can of course make a mess of any design by putting super soft springs in it and having a low roll center that makes it feel tippy on the street |

depends on what steering system you want to use
if you want normal steering box with crossover steering, then something like a 3 link with a panhard bar to locate it is best for the front IMO in the back it is your choice but I like the first triangulated 3 link you posted and the double triangulated you posted last |
