I am not sure you will get the answers you want in here. I would try maybe in tow rigs or general??? Or maybe on gmfullsize.com. You can get alot of good info in here if you want to put a solid axle under it and wheel the piss out of it. Not really the place for questions like this. Good luck. I hope you find your fix.

Are the axle shafts seated all the way in the housing? I once had that problem, wouldn't go into 4x4. I could actually pull the CV towards the wheel and see axle shaft. Stupid IFS.

If you actually wanna wheel ditch that independent garbage and straight axle it. I've broken the front way too much on my '90 Chevy so I bought a Dana 60 and I'm currently doing the swap.

Get another accuator, I had to replace mine once and the parts store gave me a bad one. Not all that uncommon to happen.

X2

Those actuators are notorious for going bad.

Quick test: Use a test light and make sure you have power going into the actuator when you put it into 4 wheel drive.

No power = Bad relay, loose connection, short, blown fuse, etc....

Yes Power but no 4x4 = Bad actuator.
