Tires for a 84 K30
So i know this is the noob section but i am having an issue when it comes to tires i plan on driving my K30 on the street and i am going to use 17 inch rims but i am not sure what tires to go with.
I was looking at the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 Size: 37X12.5R17 Load Range: D Raised White Letters Price: $325.00 (each) i have run interco's SSR's befor on on my Suburban but i never went in to hard core wheeling. my new K30 will have WFO crossover, 52's in the front and 63's in the rear with ORD Zero rates fron and rear to get a 5 inch lift. i plan on going to places such as holllister, pismo,Rubicon and Moab in a year or two. Are these tires good for all these places ? or do i want to go with some thing from interco again? i just need a good radial tire that can perform off road well and on the street and that is not over like 350 bucks per tire. any info would be appreciated

To find a tire to do all those things great will be tough. The places you mentioned have about as different terrain as you can get with out mentioning ice and snow. You said basically, sand-pismo, hollister-dirt, moab-rocks. Your thought on the KM2 is probably good but I like (and Run) the BFG a/t's in 35" and they perform great on the street (your first question) and they will be better than the muds from BFG. The two tires may be about equal at moab depending on the trail and driving style you chose.I just happen to be a big fan of the performance I have had with the BFG A/T's. You live in Santa Clara so which ever place you go most may depend on what you buy. Also, depends how much street your truck sees. My $.02. Hope it helps.

I would be driven a few times a week on the streetand to and from trails for now. the price from tire rack seems good i just cant spend 450 bucks on a tire for something like iroc's or some pitbulls

How about some recentered Hummer rims and Goodyears? Look in the vendor section, I think you would be looking at around a grand for wheels and tires. Or even cheaper, standard Hummer rims and spacers.

I personally like my MTZ's. They're 35's but i tried them out yesterday on a loose gravel hill and although they slipped a bit i got up the hill with little effort. Also worked good in the sand and little bit of mud i went through. Kinda hard to explain the terrain other than it's not the place a fullsize chevy should ever try going

It will be hard to find something that does everything great but the km2 us what I would go with. Keep an eye out in the for sale section and you might be able to find some
nice used swampers or something else. It would be cheaper for sure
