x450 propane carb adjustments...?
I just installed an x450 propane carb and an x-1. The truck idles real nice and runs decent when you 1st get going. I turned the timing up some but it seems still to ping, and one know how to adjust lean and rich..? How to do this, ive tried the screw on the front but not sure what way to go, it pings like hell under a load....helps greatly appreciated

What is your initial timing set at? (without vacuum advance hooked up). Propane likes a little more initial. I would try setting it at 12 with no more than 35-36 total.
As far as the carb goes it has been awhile since I worked on one. If you do a search for a thread called propane tuning in the general 4x4 section it will tell you what you are looking for. I would link it for you but I am not very computer saavy. -John |

Thanks, i got it all fixed today. I put colder new plugs in and set it at 12 goes to 30 so it works good and doesnt ping. The propane guy tech support helped me and so did the guys over at wheelin dixie...bunch of good guys. The x450 gets adjusted with the mixure screw up front, turning it in leans it out and so on and so forth. As far as i got today it seems to run as good as it did with the truck avenger, the more i get the tune right the better she runs...
