89 F-250 4x4 problem

I have an 89 f-250. It has the borg warner t-case. the 4 wheel drive won't work now. It will change the gears inside, even into low, but won't spin the driveshaft. Is this a common thing for these? What trucks can a scavenge an np205 from without any adapters? It's my dd, so want to get all the ducks in a row before i tear into it with just hopes and guessing.
Thanks.

it's a chain drive case. so if the chain broke you got no power to the front.

go get another 1356. it's got a better low range than 205 and is way lighter. also if you put in a 205 you will have to make new driveshafts since the 205 don't have the outputs in the same place. plus you're bw1356 has a slip yoke. 205 doesn't so it needs a two piece shaft.

Is it just cheaper to just get a new chain. Everyone up here is asking quite a pretty penny for their "like new" ones.
