|HouseOfPain||Here's mine finally done 302,T18, dana 20 Spider 9 rear dana 44 front spring under lengthened blah blah. I'm wanting to switch to a 35 skinny tire on stock early cj wheel. Does any body have a pic of that set up with scout 44s. Just want to see if it tucks the tires in enough or too much or just looks goofy with a skinny tire sticking way out. I'm rubbing at full turn with the 37s and 3" BS on my wheels.|

Just picked up this '49
Needs some work, the body looks like it was worked over by a boat guy. It's probably 50/50 fiberglass and steel (not real bad work).
Has the 3B motor which fired up after a tank clean out and new lines. (Can't stand that F'n hole in hood)
Still working on the brakes.
Last tag was 1990, with all the chrome accessories I can definitely say it was reborn in the '80s.
Trying to decied if I should go full stupid (maybe half) or throwback to the 50's.

It sat for a long time. Asked my wife a couple of times if I could buy it. Nope .
I wasn't finished with my '72 Blazer build yet.

|Dedtruks||mikeg1713, your rig is one of my all time favorites, just outstanding. I'm planning (more like dreamin', but whatever) a retro build on a '76 FJ40 I have. Hope to catch ya up at RC some day. Love to see your rig IRL.|

Thanks, I've got a bar off a early cj5 and a full cage I'm building from a Jk unlimited rear bar.
The only time ill put them in is if I go to a jamboree or Rausch Creek off road park.

mikeg1713, I love it!
I was actually thinkng to myself the other day how much better flatties look without a roll cage. I've got a 46 sitting here in pieces, and would really rather not run a cage

Here's a question for you all.
I've got a 51 cj3a with a 5L v8 and I've also got 609s and 37s sitting around. should I restore the CJ or put the axles and tires on it, and do the things associated with that, probably air shocks hydro assist steering.

It's so cool to see this thread continue to grow and thrive. It makes me happy. Especially, those that are father/son projects. When I first started this thread, I had hoped it would grow into a fun thread full of respectable responses based on the true nature that built this wonderful world of Willys ownership that has carried on from generation to generation. Sharing that pride and excitement of bringing home an old piece of true American iron. Man oh man, what a blessing.
It makes me happy to see everyone of these projects and the stories that make each one unique. This IS what it's all about.

|Al Kaholick||Here's mine. My Grandpa bought it around 1962 and gave it to me a month or so ago. Mostly stock except for an inline 6 out of a Studebaker Champion. Got it moving under its own power last weekend and am working on safety and reliability right now. I have some Toyota axles for later...|

probably not a good idea to have one tuned like that in a 4x4, but i'm still stoked about watching somebody put one in a willys!
