we should have all kept believing the world was flat and god forbid we ever leave the inner cities and the watchful eyes of those who look out for your well being

Easy there big boy, no need to get all bitter. Sounds like maybe you could use a bit of adventure with a side of fun. And for the record the beer is on the porch with you? I'm driving...

Yeah, go with the Red Labels!

Do you know a good body man to work out the inevitable trail damage you will get due to all the additional traction.

Just be careful, I would hate to see you roll. (Again)

floppy I guess someone has to stay on the porch while the big dogs run, fine by me... They can make sure the beer stays cold and the dishes get washed.
I'm starting to think Brian has an advantage on us. That's a lot of rubber contact. And they flex well too! Pretty amazing how he still goes so well in the snow? Maybe we should start the "hardwood" club? If you know what I mean

need one of those propane torches from HF to melt the 150' and expose some rock.

looks easy

anyone want to go this weekend? I'd go, but I don't have a winch. I'll bring beer.
01-10-2012 12:27 AM
scottz Hell, that looks safer than my ride to work through north highlands, At least up there I'd get to worry about hitting trees and other rigs and not that my civic is painted red...

jethrodeg What's a stoopid risk to one person is a fun adventure to another.

We headed up Rattlesnake and made it over the summit, just to see what it was like up there. We turned around about half way down the back side, but it looked like making it to the lake shouldn't be a problem (with chains). Just a few scary patches of ice past the summit.

Ran the five dollar trail from the campground to Eagle Lakes. Had lunch at the top of Driveline and headed in from there. We took our chances and slid down the ice flow (yes, it still looks the same as 12/20). Made it down with no issues, and getting back up wasn't really that bad. We only had to pull cable once, and then only to get over a rock face that was near the top. Brian (green cruiser) made it up unassisted.

Yeah, the bald SXs don't seem to be slowing him down much. In fact, the rest of us have decided that we've been changing tires way too soon...

we always have called that the point of no return...... guess its even more true this winter tahn years past.

jethrodeg I think Brian has a few years left in those tires.

MochaMike I was thinking a a few dozen 1/4" machine head screws screwed into the thick tire lugs via a cordless drill would help

renolaw dealing with similar situations on a trail run where we HAD to get thru, a quick helper is to awalk the icy section and as you go, scatter sand, dirt or pebbles on the ice and it does help with traction. Another guy used kitty litter but that might not be enviro friendly and is costly.
