Got a chance to clean it today and see how bad I bent the stinger...
I think I may replace it and add a couple more bars to tie each side together a little more... or I could just not hit trees so hard...

|smewhtguy||Bed turned out great.|

couple more pics... to do list now is to wash the septic smelling swamp mud off , toss a new set of rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders on it and look at getting motivated to get the hydro assist on it.

A local jeep club had a small event this past weekend, so I thrashed to get this pile together to go do a little wheeling yesterday since my work travel schedule has me gone most of the summer and fall. Ended up going with a two tone because the tan paint I bought sucked and I had lots of satin black around. Rig did well, more or less went anywhere I pointed it. The only problem I encountered yesterday was when an oak tree got in my way during kill the cone... the passenger side of the stinger lost that battle but I still won the contest...
anyhoo here are a few pics of the rig.

Spring-Loaded Slide Bolts, number 8, the bolt can be clipped to be push/pull...$7-10, depending on your offset....then simply weld a tab for it to catch on and another tab with a rubber stop to snug it against, and no rattles...

|carslut||nice work, i dig how the bed looks.|

Captured, spring loaded, weld in pin... http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-qu...e-pins/=gv4z8g
Weld in like so...
Not perfect but you get the idea...

you could butch a door latch system on it? you could cut it down like in a half door and keep it compact and put the handle thing on the back side (twards the cab) just an idea. sweet build i really like the tailgate idea.
Edit: OR you could get one of those small pull latches like whats on TG`s tube doors. that would be way smaller and less bulky then my previous idea, and you could still put it on the back side like i said before.

I got the bedsides and bulkhead more or less mounted over the weekend... still have a few bolts and corner brackets to install, but its getting there. Next up will be drain holes, fuel filler mount, and then paint/reassembly/wiring.
Here are a couple of shitty cell pics... but nothing exciting really... Im sure you all have seen sheetmetal bolted to tube before...
Still need to figure out something for latches that isnt bulky and fugly...

got a little done this weekend, work schedule has been hectic and the we are getting ready to have kiddo #2 so Ive been a little busy with more important stuff...
Both 'fender tops' are in place.
next is mounting the front bulkead and the side panels... then itll be time to blow it all apart and start sanding and painting...

Started attaching the bed floor yesterday, ended up welding a piece of 3/4" square stock with some tapped holes on top of the rear crossmember so Id have something to attach the skin to.
While cleaning up all of the grinder dust I took a next level broom pic... Beats teh fawk outta all the boring broom on a floor pictures that have been posted on the interwebs...

Got a little bit more done this afternoon... My drill decided to go up in schmoke...
So I used a 4.5" grinder and a die grinder to finish off the holes in the tailgate for the lights.
Had to take a break and let the garage warm up because once the sun set it was a balmy 36 degrees in there...
