i was in the junk yard today and i saw a nissan patrol, i know nothing about these vechicles, other than that i have heard thay have good axels, and are not common in the US, i looked it up, it is a 2nd generation patrol, has both axles, i did not pop the hood to see what was in there, but up to this point my research has shown me that it is 4.0L straight 6.
are these axle worth my time to pull.
i dont have a vehicle to put them in, the only reason i would get them is to flip them, and make a few bucks.
You'll be able to fetch a decent penny for them but Id bet you'll be waiting quite some time for the right guy to come along. If you're thinking about running them yourself I wouldnt bother. part availability is gonna be horrid in the states.
I have a set of these axles, while they are pretty beefy, I wouldn't want to break anything in the axles and have to replace them. Ive owned Several patrols and know how hard it is to find parts. There are guys out there looking for patrol stuff but It seems like the Axles aren't big sellers, usually they get swapped out for some d44's or better.
What do you mean by a 2nd gen Patrol? If it is a USA Patrol the axles are C216 front & rear.
Is it worth your time? No....
While buff for 1960s standards in an import the axles have no aftermarket support. IE, no gears, no lockers, ect. Stock gears are 4.11. Early ones will be a tracta joint in the front, later ones will be birfields. They are coarse spline. Parts are not to hard to come by but still may have to be gotten from overseas. Bottom line, not worth the time, effort or money to do anything with them besides keep under a restored Patrol.
Now if they are 1980-onward axles that is a different story.
