I'm thinking of putting a V8 in my 03 frontier once I get my shop finished. Let's see your V8 swaps and give some specifics about what engine transmission combo you use.
Has nobody done a v8 swap? I have found a Mercedes om617 5 cyl turbo diesel at work that I have thought about swapping in but I don't know exactly what I want to do. I'm just trying to get some ideas here.
goodrich small block crate motor coversion, sm465 4 speed manual, np205 transfercase, fullwidth chevy axles, 86inches wide, 111inch wheelbase, 1180rti score rearward, 980 frontward. Does awesome burnouts, trying to get it to do wheel stands
I have been building this one since April. Dropped the D21s drivetrain and put 3/4 chevy components under it. Corporate 10 bolt front with a power-trax, and a 14 bolt rear with a Detroit locker. Stretched the WB to 115 inches, with leafs. Running 35s for now but have room to go bigger in the future.
Sorry guess I'm not smart enough to add a picture. Ha ha, got it!!!
Turboed VH45 from a Q45. Patrol trans (same as Q's), patrol T-case, Patrol axles. Coilovers etc. Will get some engine pics soon but it is pretty tight so not much to see.
I'd suggest you put a fair bit of the inner guard back in. I spent the time making new ones out of 0.8mm and was really easy to bend it with your hands to get the required shape. It kept the engine bay nice and clean in Taupo.

It's been a lot fun working on Franky over the past year, here is what Frankenstein looks like today.
