ya chico yard always seems to have some nice ones, but I think the cost on 2 cabs would be BIG$$$ & no pink slips either
I saw 4 doors in MEX, but they were 80-81s and up, no toyotas there either? I drove 2500 miles from sacramento to Maztilan, all my web searchs say they had 521 4 doors but not 1 pic yet,the 521 looks like the easiest way to build a 4 door, I need a good chop program to see what it will look like. here is a pic.

The 521s are really rare trucks.. The 510 guys go nuts over them, as they look very similar to a Datsun 510.

Have you seen one up close though? You can see from that pic above that they are very tiny trucks...

edit: heres another nice one: http://www.datsuns.com/cars/phil_bei...521_pickup.htm

pretty close.........owned one my JR year in HS even had a VWBUG T_bone me in the pass fender, totalled the bug, all I needed to drive was a tug from a tree and a new upper radiator hose! lol, I loved that truck, had a 71 w/1600 added a weber & it spun to 6500 all day long
small don't matter as I want to 4 door it, & RHD for shits & giggles, I'll be finding some cabs and if I can't get the rear doors to work, I'll either install them solid, or get a local air bag lowrider guy to do it if I can aford him

Ahh, that looks alot like my first vehicle. I had a '70 and loved the way it looked compared to the '73 and newer ones. My chit was big enough for me and two headbangers.

Mine was the same teal color, and had the wide black stripe down the entire sides. When I got mine, it had an aluminum camper shell, and Jackman wheels, white spoke deep dish. It had posi trac 50 series tires, and the king pins were shot and I had death wobble. Well, I lowered it, painted it, did all kinds of shaved emblems, filled holes where trim was. I rebuilt the motor, probly still have the wedge of wood we made for holding the timing chain. I lived in that truck when I got kicked out the house at 17. I remember my Realistic tape player was everything I needed for entertainment in the rig. I had a big cardboard Led Zeppelin sign from the music store display, I used it as the headliner, ahhh memories.

i'm pretty sure there was a 620 4 door made...i saw one in the buy and sell a while back. it had an automatic in it and they wanted something like $4000 for it

what's the difference between a 520 and a 521? there's a shop down in olympia that found one in great shape sitting in their back parking lot abandoned, they got a title for it and cut it in half the cab is sitting inside the store now

Seabass... there are four door versions of those in Mexico. Was a little shocked first time I spotted one (sitting in the parking lot at the local mall). Four Door 620... Yep, Mexico plates. Cool truck.

Other mind blower was a Datsun 510. Fellow didn't speak english, but it was built in Mexico. 4 door Sedan with a A15 (ohv 1500cc engine) and a solid
rear axle. Cool, but the fellow could explain "no parts in Mexico... only in USA!"

I drove all the way to Mazilan, saw many 720 4 doors 80-81 t0 86? never saw a 72-79 620 4 door, I think that iswhat you saw a 720. I'm still looking, for the 69-71.5s I'll lossen the skin on the door edge, section out the section where the vent wing is and put it back togather without having a seam on the skin to weld at all, just like a horazonle section on hotrods but a vertical section to narrow up the rear doors.

There are many 4 door 620's in mexico. They are old as crud now, and getting less available, but they are there. I have seen many hardbody 4 doors there too. The 720 is also in 4 door, and now of course the Frontier is available. However, I have never seen a 520 4 door.

Have you thought about starting with a 4dr 510? very similar looks, just hack off everything behind the rear doors and add a flat bed. you could grab the front sheetmetal from a 520. Might be alot less work, might not. Just another angle to consider.

youd just have to create body mounts on the datsun body to match the taco frame instead of the other way around. theres a guy here in chico thats got a 510 wagon body on a 720 frame, so its doable.
