Remove the plastic sill on the drivers side door sill, it just pops out
take off the kick panel cover, one phillips screw, remove the plastic underdash cover, two screws on each end and it pulls loose The computer is WAY up under the dash secured at the bottom by two 10MM bolts and the top tongue rests in a metal housing, after removing the botls it should fall free.... Once out get a samll phillips screw driver, turn the ignition, remove the plastic cover on the computer and with the ignition on turn the screw all the way (forgot which way but it will only go one way) the check engine light should go off, wait two seconds , turn it all the way back, now we are in diag mode and shold be getting flashy codes out of the check engine light... to clear codes turn the screw the other way .. wait two seconds and back again, no more codes get a cheapie haynes manual for better instructions. |

i finally had a chance to work on the pathfinder. Everything is now working fine. I did have a haynes manual, but your directions were much better than haynes. You should be writting those manuals.

i think 96 is the last year for the when you can pull codes without the scanner - making things a little tougher for the do it yourself type. I don't know who is consulted when they do stuff like this but it is probably the way money wants it.
