This is my friend Jeremy's truck, goes by NissanMudder94 when he does (it should be nissancrawler94
)We are doing the work at Jeremy's uncle's farm. The shop is huge and has everythign we need (Plasma, oxy/acet torch, three welders, huge compressor, tons of floorspace, other assorted coolness). We start my truck (#2), sometime in the next week or so. Plans for his truck 85 toy front, H233 rear OTT divorced Toyota case, behind nissan case Flatbed 4.37 gears Removing the bed with a skid loader, man I want one. More skid loader fun. Check out that complete absence of flex, we'll change that soon enough. Up on jackstands Pics of IFS First cut, I can't imagine what he is thinking. The plasma cutters are great (usually, this one needed a new nozzle so it wasnt cutting straight). We were out of gas in the oxy/acetlyne torch, otherwise it would have gone faster. We'll get some gas (Hahaha gas) tomorrow morning. blurry but cool pic You can kind of see the size of the shop in this one. His uncle works on tractors and large farm impliments in here. Back of the truck, we also removed the gas tank, since it is getting relocated(in the way of the second transfer case that is going in) The toyota front that is going in the pickup Workin IFS ON THE FLOOR! Pile of crap Not bad for a first days work

Anyways, nice place to work, what a luxury to be in a killer building and have level floors!

Yeah, I posted this on N4W and NOR as well, since alot of people dont read the other boards. I wrote the same stuff to save time. Its now 2am, and I've got maybe 10hrs of sleep all weekend, and I get up to start this again tomorrow at 7:30. We are probably going to work all out like this for the next two weeks.

Got off to a late start today, we went to the dealerships/Napa in the morning and in the evening I had classes and Jeremy had to help his friend move. We made a little progress though.
We cut as much of the brackets off the drivers side as we could with the torch before we ran out of Oxygen(we ran out of acetalyne yesterday). Then we started on it with the angle grinders. We got most of the stuff on the drivers side off. ![]() ![]() I broke a Vice Grips trying to bend a chunk of bracket off, never broke a ViceGrip before, and I'm damn proud. I'm also wearing my leather bibs, so I look damn gay. ![]() ![]() We decided to pain the back half of the frame while taking a break from grinding. ![]() ![]() Also decided to paint his wheels, they were rusty and white, getting a nice coat of flat black. Were going to drop them off at my friends shop to get the 35s mounted tomorrow.

Great!
One question... How are you going to hook up that pass-side yota axle? NEVERMIND, I just read the second t-case part. Must be a right-drop second case your putting in. Last edited by JoeyS; 07-20-2004 at 06:00 AM. |

Pulling the pitman arm, we are going to take the arm to a local 4wd shop to have it tapered for the toy rod ends. Usually it takes guys all day to pull these, took us about 25min. Its amaizing what the right tools can do (huge puller and a 3/4impact)
![]() ![]() Mocking up and measuring things for the flatbed. ![]() ![]() Ground the 3 brackets off the frame to make room for the flatbed, that piece of angle iron is going to be the base of the bed. ![]() Me doing my best Darth Vader impression ![]() All clean ![]() ![]() Some pics of the toy transfer case, adapter and the begining of a mount for it. ![]() ![]() ![]() If you have a toyota driveshaft that dosent fit this flange its worthless.

Sorry I didnt post an update last night, I was so tired I just passed out. We stopped working around 1am.
Jeremy designed a semibolt on crossmember for his truck. The frame is capped with a piece of 3/8in steel with 5 1/2in in grade 8 bolts running through it, welded in in the back. The reason for this is so we could bolt the crossmember up to figure out if it works, and if it dosent, take it down and rebuild it, if not weld it on. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Axle getting hung ![]() ![]() ![]() This thing is gonna be huge, bigger than we planned. I'm about 5 foot 5 and its up to my chin, sitting a bit below ride height for 33s. ![]() We changed our plans for the rear, now we are going to run 63in chevy leaves and 3/4eliptical, this will also move the rear axle back making the rear driveshaft longer and the second Tcase eaiser to mount. Its gonna flex like mad. But for the mean time we are going to put a block in the rear and a longer shackle, just to get it on the road. We got all the pieces cut to mount the shackles in the rear, that should get done today, so the truck will be able to sit on its own weight. While I'm at class tonight jeremy should be able to bleed the brakes and put new wheelbearings in the front axle, then we can work abit on getting the gas tank mounted and a temporary flatbed made. Friday we are going to get the pitman arm reamed, and it should be able to pull out of the shop under its own power friday night.

Welding up the shackle crossmember, the blue piece bolts on to stiffen everythign up and is removable if we ever need to drop the transmission. Yes I'm stick welding in shorts, its hot as hell outside and I never said I was smart.
![]() pic of my welds![]() ![]() Welding the crossmember to the frame ![]() ![]() Pics of the crossmember. The piece of box will get painted some other color than blue (flat black). The shackle hanger is just tacked inplace so we can test shackle angle before burning it on permently. ![]() ![]() ![]() Pic with 4.5in shackles, droop should be great. ![]() We stuck the 33s next to it to see how it would look, needs bigger. My friend that we took the 35 Swampers to called and said he broke the machine tryign to dismount the first one. ![]() ![]() We couldnt find the caliper bolts for the front, so Jeremy didnt get the front lines run, did the back though. He took the Nissan hardlines, and put them into a toy distribution block then used an AllPro stainless rear line to the connection on the frame. For some reason the pics didnt come up on my camera. These are just pics of the stocklines that did come up. ![]() ![]() Welding down rails for the flatbed. Its just going to get the toolbox and a piece of sheet for now, the rollbar and other tube will come later. ![]()

Its on the ground and its TALL, for refrence Jeremy is about 6 foot 2.
Those rusty Ubolts will be replaced when the AllPro Ubolt flip kit comes, we will also install 2 degree shims at the same time, to point the pinion up a bit. After that we will mount the shock towers, since chaging the angle will change where the shock towers are. Steering angles look pretty good. We took the pitman to Whalent to get tapped only to discover a stock FJ rod end fits the pitman from the top. So a toy axle, moved 2in forward on a nissan pickup, can use the Skys histeer kit without any modification. Flexy, flexy! We maxed out the longframe jack, and his uncle took the skid loader to the 4H fair so we couldnt use that again. This is also with stock rear leaves, should be even better with the 63in chevys. ] Oilpan clearance at flex. Its pretty good, but he is probably going to swap to a 2wd oilpan, since it gets really close when you compress both springs at once. Also picked the 33 MTRs from Whalent this morning, payed $550 for 5 of these on black steel wheels. Deal of the century, 4 are barely used one is brand new (thanks Scott!). These are going on my truck.

Last two days havent been very productive, a combination of SNAFUs, waiting for parts, broken tools and injuries.
Picked up my Axle. I FUBARed my brake backing plates getting them off, if anyone has a set in spare condition I need them ASAP (why am I talking in military acronyms). I'm also waiting for some bolts from the jeep dealership. Gear pattern looks good. Jeremy mocked up his bumper 63in chevy leaves on I break vice grips, Jeremy in quality form, one ups me by breaking a Vice, split the base clean apart. So we went to take it to Sears, but I quickly find out that the gas gauge on the Contour is messed up, leaving us gasless on the side of "Coon Club Rd" :banjo: . See that Found On Road Dead. Man I hate this thing, I want my Pathy done. The dude at Sears tried to dick us around with the warrenty on the vice "Well the new ones only have a one year waranty," "Dosent mean this old one didnt, now can we please have a new vice so we can break it 11 months from now and have another." Pulled my truck in and put it on jack stands. Pic of the stub shaft that is going to run from Jeremy's nissan case to his toy case. I was cutting the zip tie off of a shock boot and managed to stab my hand pretty well, had to go to the hospital, got 4 stiches. Here is a pic of me all bandaged up with my impliment of distruction. Jeremy also mannaged to hit himself in the thumb with a hammer and take off a good chunk of skin.

I'll take some other pics of the gears, but I'm sure you know how the pattern looks . If anyone on the east coast needs gears setup, PathyKid does a great job at a great price.

Sorry I didnt post last night, another night when I got home at two and was too dead to do anything.
Jeremy put his bumper on. Took the doors off and removed the seats. He has bench seats, so he is putting buckets in to clear where the 2nd transfer case shifter comes out. He also relocated the computer to the glovebox since it gets in the way of the new seats, and can also get wet on the floor. Jeremy putting his stub shaft on they toy case. Mocking up the drivetrain. We didnt have the conversion joints on the driveshaft yet so its a stock toy shaft held inplace with zipties. Yeah the anles are pretty sharp, but we are going to pull the axle back a bit more, shim it up a few degrees and swap out for a toy flange that has more angle to it. If not he may need some custom shaft work.

While I was at class Jeremy did the ubolt flip kit. While he was jacking up the front, the truck slipped off the jacks and fell about 2 feet before catching on a spare jackstand we had sitting on the floor. It could have been a major disaster if that jackstand wasn't there his leg might have got caught, no one else was on the farm at the time, and he left his phone on the workbench.

Vroom Vroom! ![]() We also threw one of the bucket seats in, its just mocked up, that block of wood is going to be replaced with a real bracket. |

Got the rear axle mounted up and the swampers put on. Looks much better now. It measures 75 to the outside of the tires, 79 to the top of the roof, and it has a 116in wheel base. The lowest point on the frame is about 22in.
Shackle hangers. There are two holes, the bottom bolt is removable so it can be used as a flex joint if we feel like it. Jeremy lined up the transfer case, all we need to do is cut and weld some pieces to hold it in place. Got Jeremy's driveshaft back from the shop today, its an 86 toy rear shaft that we had shortened 15in and has a conversion U joint at the end to bolt it to the nissan pinion. Peter's Spring works is great, only cost us $55 and they had it done in 4 hours. Another pic of the two trucks

Pics of the skid/mount for the second Tcase.
![]() ![]() We got it out of the garage, the flatbed didn't have the toolbox, decking or spare on it, so the rear leaves wouldnt flex worth a damn. Also, since we havent made a front drive shaft yet, its in 2wd, so it should be able to go a good bit farther up the ramp. I'm happy with it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Been a slow few days, ran into some snags with my truck, but I think we should be alright now.
Got jeremy's shocks mounted. ![]() ![]() Threw the gastank in the toolbox, zip tied some mudflaps on (we swiped these off of a dualie, which is why they are huge), wired up his stock lights, strapped a spare down, and went for a ride. ![]() ![]() The skid loader came back from the fair, so we flexed Jeremy's truck with it. The rear is 38in to the lowest point on the tire, the front was 29in. We had the shocks off because we were going to use them on my truck to line the towers up, so the flex with the shocks should be a bit less. Still pretty cool. ![]() ![]()
