Question on a mid to late 70's Datsun Dana 30
Has anyone ever heard of a Datsun using a Dana 30 in the mid to late 70's. It was soppose to be the same one that they used in the old Jeeps. They are soppose to have high steer. Any help would be great.

The only Datsun/Nissan that ever came with a solid front axle are Patrols, and those are Nissan built.

wow, Brent i can't believe you didn't know of this one.
This is what i have been told: apparently there was a rare SAS kit that was offered to be welded to a Datson pickup frame and has the ability to bolt in a jeep dana 30. I have seen one of these in person. unfortunately, it was at an auction, on 33 mt's, but was rolled, and the motor was pulled. the motor happened to be a chevy 350, auto trans. whatever the bulletside trucks were, some got these (aftermarket I suppose) SAS kits. so yes i have seen one and heard of one other here in maryland. in fact i believe there is a SAS datson right in westminster under a tarp. I believe that one is a toyota axle but it could possibly be the same, or similar kit. you're slackin' Brent.

Yes, the conversion was popular in the 70's, and many Datsuns had them. The use of the d30 was because they fit good and had alot of applicable trans and tcases. My friend had one and another dudes dad had one with the Buick v6 also.

BTW, the Datsun conversion kit was before the Toyota 4x4 came out in '79. There were dudes that did the swap to Chevy Love and also Toyota trucks but not as much as the Datsun.
