I didnt know if anyone has had problems with their fuel gauge not workin. I have a 90 pathfinder. I didnt know if it was the sending unit itself or even mabye the gauge. I havnt tried either yet i wanted to see what anyone thinks.

Check under the rig and see if your gas tank has a big dent, mine does and the gaugewon't work.

A dent could mess it up, but on a tank that old rust could be a big problem if it ever sat unused for awhile.
I've seen a tank 5 years newer froma Pathy. The sending unit mating surface on the tank has an O-ring that's supposed to seal it. This one wasn't anymore, as rust had "wedged up" the mating surface- higher than the O-ring-keeping it from sealing. ENded up using some kind of super fuell system epoxy stuff when we put it all back together. Also, it's possible the external wires going to the fuell sender is corroded. If you do end up pulling the tank, I would give it's insides a good R/R(besides the sender "DEBUG", unless you're confident it's all good ![]() And run it on fumes before you do pull the tank-much easier. cool thanks for the input!! I have about convinced myself to go ahead and drop the tank. Hope its not rust but knowing my luck it is. This pathy sat for awhile before i got it.
I have also thought it maybe the fuel sending unit. Since the pathy sat for about 2 years i was thinkin the float maybe fuel soaked and not be able to register. Dont know if this is possible. |

I was under there yesterday, and there are actually 4 screws, but ya, it could save some time. That would suck to have the tank out, and then see the panel from the bottom.

There is also a relay that goes out behind the dash. I had a guy make one for me for about 10 bucks. At the factory you have to buy the whole dash assembly and that was around $200. I will try to look for the link about the gas and water temp gauge. It was a very easy fix once i found out how to do it.
