720 engine question

sorry to bombard you guys, but i figgured id just get all these questions out there and see what happens.

So i'm not impressed with the power that i'm feeling out of this 2.4 engine in my 85 720. its got about 124K miles on it which shouldnt be that much. also, keep in mind the only other 4x4s that i've spent much time with are samurais which stock make something rediculous like 65hp and 75flbs, so it doesnt take much to satisfy me - also the truck only has 215s on it right now, so i'm worried about whats going to happen when i put on 31s.

I'm thinking that if I added a 38mm weber and headers/exhaust it might make a big differenct.

I did those mods to the 1.6 engine I put in my samurai and that thing was a beast.

can anyone tell me if the above mods will help this engine much and give me any other SIMPLE suggestions to perk up this sluggish puppy.

It just seems like it should be easy to run 31's with a 2.4 liter engine, when i'm running 31s in my 1.6 liter samurai and it feels STRONG.

i had the weber and the header on my truck. the 2.2 could handel the 31s but the 2.4 with the 4.375s. these engens are seem to have the power down low anyway. there are some cam optons but not many

The stock vacumn operated carb is junk. I ran solex or webers on all my 720s and 620s. Felt like a 50% power increase. No headers.

headers

no headers because they don't give any appreciable gains, or just because you didnt get around to???

thanks!

I love headers. I have them on both VG30s today. Pacesetters on d21. Thorleys on the pathy. Very happy with the power increase.

I only tried a pacesetter on my 620 L18. I had water leak issues so I took it off.

Never tried a header on my z24 trucks. Should have.

Do you happen to know which headers will fit on a kingcab 720?

i went to the doug thorley website and it said "no kingcabs or lifts".

I think these are pace setter.

Seriously ask on 4x4parts.com This board is kinda dead. There are lots more active Nissan boards.

I have owned RC and KC 2wd and 4wd not sure what the difference is in exhaust.

Worse case buy the header you want and had a shop make a custom head pipe. Thats what I did with my 74 years ago.
