First off, Im a toyota guy, will admit not a fan of the nissans, they are reliable as hell, just dont like the looks. Will smoke a 22r or re all day long though.
Anyways, got a younger buddy, has a 93 I believe pickup, ka24e, he been working his ass off at a job, trucks making noise like a chain on a cover. He dont got the funds to pay a shop, so i said id do it, since he busts his ass working, and hes young.
I dove in with a damn chiltons, this thing is garbage, like 15 steps for t cover and t chain iremoval and install, not detailed at all. I have pulled the cover 3 times now, and re done the timing, ive gone a tooth forward, and a tooth back on the cam of the timing mark. I have every single time I did anything, turned it over by hand to verify I wasnt hitting valves, before turing it over with starter.
I could not get more than 90 lbs out fo the front cyl, this was with all other 3 plugs in it, because kid said the other 3 were real sketch. I said f it, and pulled number 4 out, and tested and got 120 in 1 and 4???? WTF? It rose when I pulled the rear plug, dunno as I usually comp test with all 4 out.
Once it hit 120, i said f it, must be timed right now, and threw it together. I dunno which mark im supposed to go off on crank pulley to stab in the dizzy, the first or last mark, who knows, manual and online searchibng does not say.
Best thing I have gotten this motor to do since Ive touched it is backifre out the carb,( edit: throttle body) and thats how it sits as of now. I can take it apart again tomorrow, and post pics of how I got this chian with the bright links set on the cam, and people verify, or someone coupd please give me a link or school me on how to verify my cam and crank are timed together, and what timing marks to use on the crank [pulley to set my dizzy, being its drvien by the oil pum[p shaft, and can only go in one way, much dif than any other engine ive worked on.
Anyone have a good link to manual for this, maybe pdf for a factory service manual? Im totally lost, and this kid is gonna need hsi truck. Im not some kid that just thinks he can wrench, I just have usually had much better information when trying to do something,. My manual I have is literally the most vague manual I have EVER read about a engine. Please help
Sorry fir writing a book :flipoff2:
