Black Wednesday
Thats what the little lady is calling today...lol
I had some free time today and decided to make the drive to my local Cabelas. Its about 1.5 hours away. I wanted to pick up a Savage TR .22 to setup as a trainer for my .223. Ive been addicted to .22's for quite a while and have far too many already but I cant stop bringing them home.. The store was packed and I had to take a number at the gun counter. I knew it was going to be a little bit so I wandered through the gun library to window shop at all of the expensive stuff. Then all of a sudden there it was.... 1956 Winchester 52C ( Not US marked ) with the heavy target barrel. Pretty nice shape with an old Tasco Japan 8-32 AO scope. The scope even had the fine crosshairs and 1/8 dot. Well, That wasnt going to not go home with me...lol Theres something about a real heavy steel and Walnut target rifle I cant resist. Heres a pic... ![]() So after I told them to wrap it up it was about an hour wait to get the background etc... This was just because they were swamped. While wandering around the old guy that manages the gun library started up a conversation with me about Target rifles. Apparently he was quite the shooter in his day. He even had a son on an olympic team... He had a few pretty cool stories as well. Then out of the blue he says " You have got to see the little rifle I just took in on trade" . It was still in the back so he had to go get it... He comes out with a very nice Anschutz 1803. Its in the hard case with all of the optional accesories... You can all see where this is going..... It was a pretty expensive morning...lol Oh, I still dont have the Savage I drove 3 hours round trip to get...lol

If you have one of the more recent ones made in Tiawan I would agree.
These much older ones made in Japan are quality pieces. Tasco used to make real good stuff before they decided to corner the market on cheap crap....
