Kel-Tec P-11 -vs- Hi-Point C9

So I know at least one person here has one of these (P11).

Anyone want to report their shooting experiences with them?

I am looking for some inexpensive 9mm for trunk bobs.

I can get the C9 for about 120, the P11 for 200.

P9
C9
P11
For comparison

P11 C9

I've shot both a few times. The kel-tec was far and away better. Better fit & finish and seemed a little more accurate. The kel tec is also a little smaller.

Never had a failure with either, though.

My P11 is the biggest POS pistol I have ever shot. Worthless.

I am so underimpressed with the Hi Point I am almost gagging but a friend of mine has one and it has gone bang every time.

I had a p11 for a few years. it is a small pistol for the capacity. You can get 12 rounders for it too (I think they are S&W 59 mags?). goes bang everytime. My only problem with it is that the trigger pull really sucks. It felt like one of those hand strength devices everytime you pulled the trigger.

My only complaint with the P11 was the shitty trigger. You can use S&W 59 and 69 series mags in it too. I think for the application the KelTec would be a better option.

Didn't I JUST send a P11 to you?!

I liked mine a lot. Just never shot it really. Great capacity in a small frame gun. Trigger sucks, but for what it is I wouldn't want a super light sensitive trigger. Also, the trigger is DA which gives an added sense of reliability for potential light trigger strikes and such (if that makes sense). I say added sense because I never had a single issue, FTF or FTE, with mine. As a pack type gun it's great because it's super durable.

Can't comment on the C9 though

Why? Function issues? Don't like the trigger? Doesn't fit your hand? Wrong color?

If you're gonna make statements with so much conviction, at least add some supporting information otherwise your post is pretty much useless.

I vote Hipoint. Let me know if you decide to go that route as I have 2 brand new C9s taking up room in my safe.

Wifey has/had a c9. Recoil spring was too stiff for her to reliably chamber it. It goes bang every time. As big as HiPoints are, the grip is too small for my hands.

I shot a few hi points that belonged to friends.

the triggers all have nasty trigger slap, like make your fingre go numb after 50 rds.

other than that, decently accurate and goes bang everytime. If it does malfunction you can club someone with it, very top heavy. Magazines are cheap shit.

Not likely to malfunction.
Likely to shoot up all 9 rds and then use it for a club.

Never had any problems with my P11. It has a long trigger pull but I like that in a CCW pistol, and after enough rounds at the range becomes a non issue.

I haven't shot a Hi-Point but I like my p-11, for the price I'd buy one again. (Disclaimer, Mine was free....) I have roughly 3k rounds through it and I did the normal fluff and buff when I first got it.

The trigger pull complaints are spot on, but it's not a target gun. I shot mine alot because it was the only gun I had and I was a noob.

I had one mainspring failure, and the takedown pin liked to walk out which is why I got it for free. Both times, Kel-Tec mailed me parts for free on their dime just based on a phone call. Once I fixed those two issues it has been flawless. I am almost sure the issues were caused by mishandling prior to my ownership.

hoping to run a few mags through my new-to-me P11 next weekend.

and as an fyi, the colored plastic "frame" is not the frame. they're replaceable grips.

Trigger sucks, slide is sloppy, doesn't group for shit, plastic guide pin for slide is a joke. The chamber is loose enough that some badly rebuilt bullets I had ran through it. All the other 9's I had around would not load it.

It always goes bang is the only good thing about it.

Trigger does "suck", but for what it is, what more do you expect or want? The rest isn't an issue either on a ~$200 gun that feeds any ammo you want and goes bang everytime. And mine shot fine groups

I wouldn't say I heart mine, but it's ergonomically similar to my M&P, which I do

With tiny mods, all my holsters fit either gun, even the Kydex ones.
