Ouch. FN 5.7 explodes
Fubared his hand pretty good, too. Needs some pretty extensive surgery.

My directors son had his FN KB on him a few years ago. Not nearly as catastrophic, but still did some nasty damage to his hand. Shooting factory ammunition. If memory serves FN replaced the gun for him. I tried to find pics, but the Google-Fu is not with me today.

I hate to get off track, but does that type of rear sight work well?

Sure looks like an out of battery ignition. There are more pics on the site that shows a bunch of brass outside the chamber.
Seems like a good argument for metal frames in high powered pistols. All of the damage is in the thin section near the mag tunnel. Steel might have kept that together, but with 5.7 who knows.

I have a couple other pistols setup that way and I honestly don't care for the Ninja red dot on the pistols, FWIW. I like sights.

Man that is scary. I read the link to predator forums and another on an FN forum. The FN forum seemed to be dead set on it being a double charge reload even though the guy said it was factory ammo. Some drama going on there, closed threads and such.
I would really like to see some answers on what caused this and the other kaboom that was mentioned.

people RARELY own up to reload mistakes. even after i hammer out the squib loaded bullet from the barrel, their excuses begin. im not saying that it was a reload, but nobody will ever know that truth. in 10 years of being in this business, ive seen a little of everything blow up. glocks, 1911s, hks, hi points, ect. it doesnt surprise me that the gun scattered...all guns will scatter under the right conditions. ive got thousands of rounds thru 2 different 5.7 pistols and that doesnt scare me away at all.

This isn't the first exploding FN 5.7 thread on here.
