help me find a cowboy gun

Well, i want a wheel gun that I can open carry while riding my horse. Plus, i just want a damn wheel gun.

Looking to stay around 300-400 bux. Used is ok by me. Pref. not to have .22, though i have considered it (22 mag) (Heritage Rough Rider).

I would like to be able to drop medium game (coyotes or the such) if necessary.

Any recommendations?

he will be. Will start off with bubble wrap, move up to those small popper things, then fire crackers, then 22, etc etc.

You can find Rugers all day long in that price range. GB and Rugerforum, the white one, not the red one. Seriously, all the time. I paid $315 for a 4 5/8" Blackhawk in .41 a week ago from GB.

The horse yes, not sure DJeepers wrist can stand up to a centerfire. Maybe he should stick with the 22?

How about a Vaquero in 357mag or 45 colt?

I enjoyed mine (44-40) but it was too tempting to sell, in the end.

I hope you have a bomb proof horse.

You may find yourself sitting in the dirt or searching for a horse.

As a side note:

I love a revolver, but I hate the term "wheel gun" for some reason.
(Not that anyone cares)

Your target price is on the low end.
Take a look at EMF pistols, they are good quality utility grade cowboy guns

I think the Heritage is available in 22 mag. That should be enough for coyote and smaller with good shot placement. Gun, ammo and holster later should put you well under your target price.

Ruger Blackhawk .45LC or Super Blackhawk .44mag w/4.625" barrel. The SBH w/4.625" barrel is built on the Blackhawk frame instead of the Super Blackhawk frame which I like better. Those are my 2 favorites.

If you are going to get a 45, get A Ruger. Ubertis, Colts, etc will not handle real 45 loads.
