Finally took the plunge
and treated myself to a CZ-452 Special Military Trainer!
I've been wanting a CZ for a long, long time. NOTHING about this rifle disappoints me. While at an initial glance the beechwood stock appears somewhat plain, when tilted in the light there are some nice and interesting figurements in the wood. An examination of the grain shows that the stock was cut from a quarter sawn stock blank, and the inletting and checkering are flawless. The action is tight but smooth. I'm told that much like a Mauser, it will only improve with use. The trigger has no creep, and breaks crisp & clean at 2.5lbs right out of the box. There is some over-travel, but I'm not too worried about tuning it out just yet. Everything about this rifle has a look and feel of precision and quality. The only part that seems like CZ cut any corners on is the stamped steel trigger guard. Even though the part is stamped, there are no rough edges or marks left over from the manufacture process. DIP Inc. (Diversified Innovative Products) makes a beautifull machined steel trigger guard that I may buy and install later on down the line. Though I'm told that the stock sights work pretty well I should have a set of BRNO Olympic diopter sights for it in about two or three weeks. I'm planning on a Gehmann-510 adjustable rear iris when that sight goes on. I desperately want to take it out this morning and lay down some groups, but there is a nasty wind and intermittant rain out here right now. In any event, I'll update this thread with a range report as soon as the weather cooperates.

Nice! Is the rear stock profile an optical illusion in the pic or does it actually take a slight curve down?
