I am a big ole boy and need a good tactical rig, preferably one that will work with ak magazines. I am 6'3", 300+ lbs and never get asked "wheres the beef".

I dont mind spending a few dollars on this and would prefer something that can be worn over winter clothes and or body armor. what you guys got for me.

On a serious note have you tired a sling? I have seen a few that look like great buys and you can grab and go fairly quick. Just an idea.

Ask Larry Vickers what he uses. He's a big fella. Honestly a lot of your mil spec IBA and LBE are sized to work together. A large LBV should fit over a large IBA. You could easily spend over $1k on the really nice sets (level 3a with plate pockets). ESAPI plates are spendy too. I would recommend getting an IBA with the quick exit setup. Not just for danger close/ holy shit I'm on fire scenarios, but also for the hot humid heat stroke get me outta this thing scenarios. Also, most are adjustable within a size range to fit over cold weather clothing. Remember though, an IBA will trap a lot of body heat, so a combat shirt with insulated sleeves will likely keep you as warm as your favorite carhart jacket. I would not reccomend getting a vest with presewn pouches. Get molle/pals and configure it how you want.

Thanks. I want a full setup and I am figuring about a 3 grand budget for my rig.

By rig do you mean every scrap of fabric you are going to use to hold your gear? Does this include your pack? I hope you are figuring cost for plates. I might have a line on some plates for cheap, I will ask the guy I know if you want. No promises, but he might have some.

I'm not saying buy these, but I am saying it's an idea I've been kicking around for a while, and you could easily modify a traditional pouch to work this way.

That looks like a well made piece of kit, but it looks like it doesn't have anything other than that shoulder strap. If it doesn't have a waist strap, it would rapidly become a hindrance to me. Bout like trying to run with a solid 3/4lb object in a cargo pocket, except its beating the shit out of your side and back instead of your knee.
