Since there ain't much to these ignition systems there isn't much to go wrong. Most of my failures with FHP engines were related to a wire's insulation being worn away and shorting to ground. You can use an Ohm meter to check for a shorted out or open coil/spark plug lead, too. These two reasons were the cause of about 95% of the failures I've experienced. Other thing could be a shifted flywheel (kinda rare).
