New toy, 9mm carbine.

Not sure if they still offer the kits, but they used to have a $30 ish kit to change the mag style the gun uses

I love my g17 sub 2000. It doesn't see much range time since I'm getting into rimfire target shooting. It's way to easy to dump 33rds without even thinking. That's why I switched to bolt action rimfire shooting.

I carry an m&p so no reason for me to pick up a g17 version that people want 3 times what they are worth for.

Got it for $275, was pretty nasty inside so I did a full tear down and polished the bolt while I was in there.

Good job on that deal. I searched locally for a 5906 one for a while with no luck. Ended up with a Marlin Camp 9 to fill the 9mm carbine niche and share my pistol mags.

I almost passed it up because I didn't think I would be able to run hi cap mags but got to searching and found a company that makes 30 round 5906 mags.

Ordered a few goodies for it last night, gunna go today after work and cycle some rounds through it.

Put about 125 rounds through it tonight, no problems at all. I don't like the sights though needs some kind of optic on it.

Sub 2000 9mm Glock version
Red Lion Precision rotating rail
Mueller Quick Shot red dot sight
Gunshow special single CR123 flashlight
Houge Hand All universal grip cover (the front of the grip is split, very annoying)
and a stack of 33 round Glock mags

Next on the list is a front sight conversion using the front post from a HiPoint Tactical Carbine and maybe a birdcage on the end.

I took it to the range and put about 150 rounds through it, all WWB. It ate them up no problem even though people said it would take some break in. On a special note, magazines from my 9mm XDm wouldn't lock in, but they would feed flawlessly if I held the magazine.

How do you like the red lion rail? I'm thinking about picking one up.

It's pricey, but it seems very well machined. I don't know how well it'll hold zero on the optic since I've only been to the range once and haven't zeroed it in all the way, but it fits snug once you tighten down the collar. Keep in mind you have to remove (cut off) the front sight and bushing to get it the rail on. You'll need a dremel for the sight and heat gun for the bushing.

On an unrelated note, I don't think you'll find an optic that will cowitness with the irons, they're just too low, but with the Red Lion, you can just rotate the red dot out of the way.

I was thinking about getting rid of the factory irons all together.

Call me strange or something, but I'm leaving it alone. Like I said, it is what it is, a really compact carbine you can stash just about anywhere as a just in case thing. It's a bonus that it's fun to shoot.

If I want optics etc, I've got AR's.

I'm thinking about ditching the foregrip and rail sections even, keep it light and compact.

Stock sights are not great, but they will get the job done at 100 yards, I proved that last weekend.

Still haven't gotten around to a complete strip and polish job on this thing, maybe tomorrow or monday.

One of these may get added to my "bucket list" (Especially since my bucket list has gotten smaller as I keep checking them off)

Dang. Kid's actually even looks almost good. I didn't think it was possible. I wanted one even when I thought they had to be ugly as shit.

I went with Kid to the range. That thing is addicting to shoot. Once he gets that red dot sighted in it'll be stupid fun. I've been trying to talk my buddy out of a 40 cal version since it shares mags with my glock, but I may end up with a 9mm version if that's all I can find.

These things are like hen's teeth around these parts. And I'm still torn on the front rail. It actually looks pretty cool, and is really nice in the hands. But I do hate losing the front sight. I'm waiting on him to replace it to see what it looks like. Nothing like your buddy being a test monkey right?

Hunks of shit, I have personally worked on 3 of them, tolerances on a weapon to just throw rounds is very poor. I have had to machine and polish the firing pin on 2 of them just to get them to shoot relaibly. not a great weapon in my opinion.

You can still get it, but IIRC, the glock mag version was the best one to have in order to do that. One version of the gun was not convertible to any other magazine. I want to say it was the Beretta mag version, but it's been a while so I might be wrong.

Maybe I are dumb, but what keeps it latched in the folded position after you chop the front sight off?

Nothing now. Dont really see much need in it being locked closed, when I fold it will be going into a case.
