Ruger single six/ talk me out of doing the power customs hammer mod

So I bought ruger single six convertible..... Plain Jane with target sights in blue. Ruger® New Model Single-Six® Convertible Single-Action Revolver Models

Already tempted to stick a power customs hammer kit in it to make it handle more coltlike when loading.......http://www.midwayusa.com/product/165...six-steel-blue
Have any of you done this mod? It's pricey, is it worth the extra expense? Don't want to drop the coin if it's only marginally better.

Back when I shot CAS several guys were running Power Custom parts. Don't recall any bad words about them.
Some guys also installed a free spin pawl while they were at it.

I see 22s as a recreational/fun gun, so if that makes it more fun for you (and the money won't mean doing without groceries) get at it. Single Sixes are really fun and if yours is a little different, so much the better. Just my .02.

Power Custom is good stuff- I doubt you'd be disappointed in the outcome.

There's a thread here somewhere about my wife's stainless that I took down and polished just because I thought it looked better. Makes it a little different, and I haven't regretted any of the time or (little) money that I put into it.

The single six is a fun pistola. All of my shooting buddies have at least one. The stock configuration works for me. It isn't very hard to get the chamber to line up with the gate for loading and unloading (indexing?). $154 *used* to buy a shitload of ammo, $my 0.01.

Speaking of which, did you ever put up pics of the finished piece? I kinda remember posting the turned barrel, but I don't remember seeing the final product.

Yes, they are here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/outdo...ingle-six.html

Stayed with the rosewood grips after all. It grew on me.

ETA: Sorry 'bout the hijack. OP, if you're gonna do the hammer mod, I'd for sure do the free spin pawl at the same time. One go round, and you'll have all that buttoned up and (IMO) it'll be pretty trick!

No worries on the hijack was just looking for a Lil insight on the parts.....most of my experience was with colt SAA but this is "my first pistol" . I'm kinda a whore for .22s....... First 22 rifles now this I'm thinking I should diversify and add a larger caliber..... So 22mag with this guy... next step either bare bones 1911, gun site scout, or a 22\45
