R/C rock crawling

I know a bunch of you are into R/C so I thought I'd post some pics and a couple of vids from an event held 6/21 in So Cal.

The weather sucked but we had great time. It was sponsored by a company called RC4WD.com, Team Losi, and Tamiya.

There were two courses one for big trucks Clodbuster/TXT-1 etc, and another for the smaller trucks. Bruiser/Pajero.

We'll be doing this for sure next year, and in the meantime we are trying to get another event started here in the next few months.

The videos work best if you right click save as.

Thanks Tony.

Tamiya makes the TXT-1. I found out about it in this board about 4 months ago from 94YJGuy. The thing is a beast. I'm allready on my second body. The first one had holes worn in it, and the t-case skid plate is almost gone.

You can't believe how much fun it is to sit in front of a rockpile with a 12pack and one of these.

I stumbled on a site while back called mudcow.com the truck on tha site is amazing. I would love to get into rc's but I'm afraid I really know nothing about them and I have no idea what the cost would be. Very cool idea though talk about a way to kill time when your rig is down

That's terrible. Look at all those 4x4's damaging the environment. Those rocks will be scarred for a long time.

Bones! Congrats on the winning run
Too bad Hua couldnt show up.

The Clods, Juggernauts, and TXT's are great for crawling! Dual motors make a ton of (scale) torque..enough to drive up a vertical wall

The smaller trucks that were running there are the old school Tamiya Bruiser based trucks. Look really cool, but parts are $$ if any break (and they do break!)

Expect to spend $500+ for a truck batteries, radio, charger, etc and then start modding it. A lot of the parts can be home made, though.

I never wanted to figure out how much money I have into my small rigs....because my big toy is still in peices.
R/c's...3 Juggernauts, 3 Bruisers, Emaxx, TA01 & a 1/8th scale all metal Dually. The cost to replace them would probably kill me

That's funny, check this out. The first place we were supposed to have it was at a place called Vasquez rock park. Guess what?

Okay since a couple of poeple have asked, Here's a quick lowdown on the rigs:

TXT-1: Kit price $369 at Tower Hobbies website.

You'll need: A radio, 3 channel if you want rear steer (you do)
A speed controller, Novak super rooster is the best.
Strong steering servos 130oz. inch or better
2 9tooth pinion gears
a tube of JB Quick to lock the diffs
a case of beer

Burban: The black jeep is clod based, and geared at 147:1

bhick53: The buggy is hand built by a guy named John Boyer (RCWIZARD) on the R/C boards. He gets around $250 for a tube chassis like the one above minus drivetrain. It could be set up with clod axles, TXT-1 t-case and axles, Or as you see it with TXT t-case and Bruiser (toyota) axles. He is willing to do one-offs as well, if you want a scale copy of your buggy.
