Looking to pick up a pair of 9mm pistols and a matching 9mm carbine.
Criteria.
-Must all take the same mags as the pistols
-Mvail of extended 30+ round mags is a definite plus
-Must fold or disassemble quickly and easily into a small, easy to store package.
-I'd like to spend less than $1k on the carbine.
-I'd like the gun to fire while folded or broken down.
Glock mags seem to be the most obvious option. Never been a big fan of the grip angle of the Glock. But they're a very reliable gun and not overly priced. I could learn to shoot one. I do have a PX4 in 9mm that I do love a lot. I'd be happy to pickup a second PX4 and a CX4 then chop the stock up and add a folding stock. Sadly a 20 rnd mag is as big as they get for that platform.
So which 9mm carbine would you recommend if you were trying to meet that criteria?
Options I've found:
- Beretta CX4 storm. (Will require custom mods)
- Kel-Tek Sub 2000 (smallest package)
- Taurus CTG29 (will require custom mods)
- AR based 9mm P-15's (not foldable but I know you'll bring it up)
- High Point Carbine (will require custom mods but cheapest option)
- JRC carbine. (Barrel unscrew instead of stock folding)
- M1-9 (uses M92 mags and will require a custom stock)
- MPA defender carbine. (Ready to rock-n-roll with the addition of quality sights)
- UZI carbine conversion (addition of a folding stock and longer barrel plus whatever needed tax stamps) probably over budget and I've never been crazy about the uzi pistols I've shot.
Feel free to add anything to the list I've missed.
