If only I could find someone who had a collapsable stock available, I'd be getting one for my CETME. Original wide HK front grips are in the works too

Just noticed over on Florida Gun Works, they've got them back in stock for $330 roughly. I think that's still a bit pricey, and I know I've seen them on other sites for less. I'm keeping my eye out...

has German G-3 kits avaliable with the colapsible stock. I would not want one personaly. The Choate sidefolder is well built, like anything from Choate. I don't like the idea of a folder on a .308. Whenever I shoot my .308s, either the Saiga or the CETME I shoot from the shoulder and make fairly well aimed shots. With My AK's I will make more shots and they aren't usualy placed as carefully. Gil your build looks to be taking shape nicely, I don't know if I like the style or not, but it will be unique. The front grip really does help keep the barrel rise down when you run a clip through fast. It should be really nic3e when it is done. I use a pair of calipers when measuring for the holes on the front and rear trunion. If you haven't drilled the rivets out in the rear trunino yet, wait it is easier to drill throught the receiver and the trunion together. Global trades is now making 1mm receivers to compliment their 1.6mm receivers. if you have a milling machine it was no big deal to take .6mm off the fornt and rear trunions, but most of us don't. I should post a couple of pics of my Bulgarian 74 and AMD-63. I will if I get time. Have fun with the build. |

nope, no front vert grip. i am using a galli(sp) style front fore end. this gives plent of handroom when running 30 round mags.
already made templates for the rear trunnion and will make them for the front (and show how here) when i space it corrctly in the reciever. I already ordered 2 ohio ordanance recievers because of the praise i have heard and also thier very good heat treating. That and i got sick of waiting for the 1.6 recievers to be ready

I have 2 rifles built on OOW receivers a 74 and a 47. I have built 4 or 5 AKs with this receiver for myself and friends. They work well, the only small gripe I have with them is the selector lever gap, which is noticable, but only to those who know what they are looking for. You do have to take quite a bit of material off of the selector lever as well, but you can get a really tight safty fit if you grind and check slowly.

You have to grind down the end of the tab, so it will engage the back of the trigger to block the trigger from moving and thus the safty is on. I will see if I can find a picture. It takes a while and you basicaly grind an check with a dremel.
