putting an AR/M-16 stock on an AK.. correctly

This is what i did with the wonderful piece of steel MAD MAC made for me.(thank you again)

I went and drilled a hole threw the ACE stocks locking ring and countersunk it and drilled/tapped a hole in the "trunnion" for extra strength and also when all the screws are tightened it DOES NOT MOVE

located the comb i wanted and how much "trunnion" i wanted sticking out. I went and notched it to fit the rear trunnion to fit.

welded her up and ground smooth. I also added some triangulation between the "trunnions" for added oomf. i also drilled it all out to remove any unneeded steel and loose a bunch of wieght(pics not shown,i was lazy)



There was a gap between the dust cover and the trunnion so i added steel to fil the area. the finished "extension" is solid steel. you can also see the starting hole for a new 3rd screw

Did you rattle can the stock?

The new mount is SOLID. i could crack a skull or smash a door without hesitation or fear of breaking. The comb is now nice and natural and my cheek falls to the same spot every time.
I have long arms and the gun feels "right" for once. and Bev can collapse it down and it fits her well.

The stock also unscrews for ummm..."storage" ummm ya

nope, it has a hard anodized finish and left it as is. The only thing with the Baked on finish is the rifle(of course) the new rear trunnion, and the locking ring/sling loop because i drilled it out and had to make it black again

hey heres a thought, can i get a receiver to eject out the left side of the gun? im left handed, and im thinking this is gonna swat me in the forehead, like my springfield 30-30.

umm no
The weapon would have to be ENTIRLY redesigned (unlike AR's you can get left handed)

The Ak's throw their rounds high and left almost strait up. i don't think it would be an issue. try someones

if it does become an issue i am pretty sure i could design a deflector that would work.

As far as ejecting, yeah you pretty much don't have to worry about it. They tend to throw them directly out the side and a bit forward

I figured it would lead to a "Fuck this thin ass metal shit trying to weld it burn threw friggen pissed off throw the dam thing pick it up weld burn throw" session so i just grabbed some 1/8 strap and welded it up. at the bottom its only like 1/8 thick extra. The first photo is deceiving

Ebay there is a guy that sells 6 inch barrels all the time. thread it yourself as for a pre-threaded barrel i have no clue

These are the products that made me design this:

ACE ltd. stock adapter.

Nice product but not as strong as i wanted. Its aluminum so i couldnt weld it to a steel block (did NOT feel like making a whole new trunnion out of aluminum) and with a hard hit i could probly shear it off those allen screws.

because its plastic...all of it is plastic. the mount, the stock, the butt plate. everything but the locking pin and spring

Like i said those and the plastic adapters are "ok" and most people are quite happy with them. Then again most people dont design a stock mount to be able to withstand multiple blows to someones head either

Looks great Doc, shoot that thing yet? It looks like it will shoot great, nice straight back recoil almost like an AR, should help out with the muzzle rise when bumpfiring.
