CA legal rifles

Trying to see if there are any rifles worth purchasing in CA. However I read that only perm. attached 10 round mags are legal? Is that the case?

If so, seems like its not worth owning someone skool me?

This is a pic like mine - .357 10 shot tubular magazine:

Load my own ammo and get 1800 fps out of it. Very accurate as well.

Not quite what I'm looking at..

Something along those lines. An assault rifle would be cool, but if 10 round mags is all I get, then I'd rather go with something like pictured above..

I want to try and get one before CA passes any more laws banning them all-together

Thanks

Just move. Problem solved

CA's weapons rules suck ass and make little sense. IIRC you can have two of the following.

magazine ,(removable), more than 10 rounds
Muzzle break / flash suppressor
folding stock
pistol grip

Both of the rifles you pictured are illegal in CA in the configurations pictured.

This one is definately worth having. http://www.springfield-armory.com/pr...m1a-stan.shtml Only a ten round mag in cali, but still a kickass rifle nonetheless.

I like SoCal
The guns pictured were actually taken off a california gun forum from a "post your rifles" thread.. although quite a few of them are preban, which is probably the case with these..

I don't see a point in owning an assault rifle with a 10 round mag. I'd much rather have a sniper / long range rifle setup

Cause we all know a pistol grip makes it so much more dangerous

took a short class and shot some rounds at Firing Line, also signed up for the yearly membership.

My right arm/grip is pretty weak, and while I was pretty decent with a .357 revolver, both the p226 and usp45 recoiled more and threw the aim way off. Once we're done moving in, I'm going to start hitting the gym again and eating more and build strength back up, so the shooting will get better. definitely gotta get together with some pbb'ers for some shooting

there is a sweet range over on the 91 at pioneer blvd that i go to, insight range. or we can go to the desert.. but we'd have to dig the hole first, or find a nice forgotten mine shaft..

Yep, go get yourself a Remington Model 700. They come from in just about any trim level, from the off the rack hunting rifle to the heavy fluted barreled sniper style rifle.

The top is a Model 700 VS (Varmint Synthetic) with a 4.5x14x50mm scope and the bottom is my model 700 hunting rifle. The 700 is a great platform to build off of, plenty of aftermarket parts to keep you happy with a relatively low buy in.

Thanks for the replies. Did some more searching and researching, and decided that I'll just assemble what I want after I'm more familiar with this stuff. Nothing out-of-the-box that I like..

Thanks again

Hey Spawn... hit me up on AIM. I am doing an AR-15 build right now. I suggest you read this http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.htm...f=118&t=266355

so yes... you have to have the attached 10 round mag. to make it legal.... also limits the types of accesories you can put on it as well. I myself, well.... lets just say for all intents and purposes that my rifle will be kept in Colorado I will eeventually be getting a tax stamp as well for a silencer as well

Bushmaster makes a pump action AR variant that I believe is legal in California. At least it "looks" like a black rifle and all mean and stuff but I would just go with a good lever gun--can't beat Marlin especially with the new lever revolution ammo that is out.
But then there is always the Daisy--in case you don't already have one:

My first rifle was that exact red ryder. None of my toys were the same after that, or my neighbors dogs that always got out.

Actually according to Cal Guns (and the current law) those Rifles are legal as they have fixed 10 round magazines. There is a "tool" required to eject the magazines...which is nice for when you go out of state. OR IF YOU'RE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY
