LED head lamps
I need a new one, my old one was just a 2 LED one from Homedepot, its since lost.
So whats the most bestest head lamp, or what ever they are called out there? Bright and light (weight) is what I want.

Don't waste your money on that high dollar crap...I have converted a dozen high dollar users to this little beauty....inc/white LED/Red LED....
http://www.backpackgeartest.org/revi...20B.%20Atkins/ You can get these things for about 10-15$ at wal mart and they rock.

Petzels are good as are the Princeton Tec, I have used and own both.
I had a plastic part break on my Princeton Tec light. I contacted the Customer Service to see if replacement parts were available (I am cheap), they sent me a brand new headlamp. That's pretty good customer service to replace a $30 product that was 4-5 years old. I prefer headlamps that have multiple light options, i.e. low, medium, high. They accomplish this by turning on different numbers of the led lamps. They usually have the emergency flashing/blinking also. Last edited by lttlbddy; 11-14-2006 at 02:32 PM. |

I've got 3 of the little 5-LED headlamps from harbor freight. Were like $7 each. They pull off the strap and have magnetic attachment behind them. Have a solid and a flash mode.
They put out plenty of light, are light enough for my 4 year old to wear comfortably, and rugged enough to put up with all my kids rough-housings. |

Get a Wenzel-lite from your local sporting goods store. It cost about 5 bux but they'll ask 6.50 and it'll keep going, and going, and going...

SUWA is Utah's Sierra Club lap-dog. The fact that these fuckers want to close every 4X4 trail in Utah including Moab in general is enough for me to boycott their petzl shit. Go shine your petzl up your ass scott. |

http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/st...berId=12500226 ![]() It is lite enough that the single strap holds it up just fine. The ones with the strap over the top (besides looking like a jock strap) can be hard to put on in the dark. I've had it for a year and used it for maybe 6 weekends and it still has the batteries it came with in it. The switch is not too hard to hit with gloves on (my old petzel was impossible to turn on/off without removing your glove). Some of the other small headlamps don't have the angle adjustment and you always end up blinding people when you talk to them. This one does. It has just about the perfect balance of spot/flood beam so you can find things far or close, but it is non-adjustable (like most others LED headlamps). The only thing I wish it had was a memory for what light setting you had it on. It always goes bright/med./low (just like most other LED headlamps out there). When you do replace the batteries put Lithium batteries in it. Beside lasting longer they are also lighter then regular alkaline batteries.

I got an energizer one from walmart for 15 bucks, it has the swivel head thing on it, it has 4 modes, far range, close range, both (all 4 leds) and then the red night leds (2 of them). Works great.

I have a couple of Pelican dual mode (LED/Halogen) ones that have taken some beatings being mounted to my hardhat while in confined spaces.
