Is this cool or a little bit morbid?

I realize that any surplus rifle has the chance that it was used in battle and killed someone but at what point does it become freaky?

The fact that you suspect that some surplus rifles were used in battle but know that these ones definitely were.

Personally , I dont think its morbib unless I know for sure that someone was killed with the rifle , and I buy it only for that reason. I have a friend that owns an MP40 submachine gun and it is worth more because it comes with the documentation that it was carried by a German officer during the Russian campaign. It was taken when he was killed, and then later captured again by an American G.I in Europe and brought back home. It is worth around $22,000with documentation , as opposed to $15-17,000.

Captured means a lot of different things. Battelfield pickups , captured when the enemy surrendered , or pulled off of dead troops.

I don't believe freaky, just goes with it. I used to have an old SS dress dagger. While I was having checked out for appraisals was informed that the wear on it, blade and handle, was consistant with a LOT of use ( not abused )
