M4 Scope Quasi-tech

I'm looking for a scope for my M4. I'm mostly going 100yds, but would like to try a 200,300,500 yd shot on occasion.

What power range should I look at 3-9? 4-12? x-xx? Prefer Mil-Dot or similar reticles. Suggestions, etc?
