Ruger Redhawk for L1A1
Okay I have a Ruger Redhawk 44mag, stainless with the 7 1/2" barrel, its an 1982, Simmons 2-6x32 pro hunter scope in silver, b-square mount and what not, Its in perfect shape. I also have a Hogue grip on it.
A Friend of mine wants it and I kinda wanna get rid of it. He says he will trade me for his L1A1. Now Ive been looking around and cant find much information on the gun. I know its a .308 and such. And kinda needs a paint job. Do you think it would be worth it to trade? I want an assault type weapon but i dont know if this would be the one to have. He also has like 3 or 4 magazines for it and no scope or anything. Anything know much about the L1A1. ps. Im so damn happy we have a 'gun' section now, im constantly watching it. fawk yeah! is it metric or inch?
BTW its a FAL, and yes its worth the trade depending on who made the reciever.Find that out first and post here and we will help. Any and all reciever markings would be helpful. (BTW it may also be stamped INSIDE the magwell as welll)

Okay he said it has no markings on it, he said it has numbers on it somewhere but he doesn't remember what they were. But he did say it was British. The reason it caught a couple casings was because of bad ammo apparently. I think i might trade him, if i do ill take some shitty pics and post them in here tomorrow.
And he says its Inch or sae . Last edited by t0talkos; 01-09-2007 at 10:15 PM. |

Just make sure its not a clapped out beater L1A1 kit built onto a shitty Hesse or other half ass reciever. Inch magazines are a little harder to come by than the metric magazines.
I would try and get the make/model and any info. off of the gun before commiting to the trade. Post up a few pics and the info. on here or go over to FALfiles.com and check out their forums. |

ya some Inch recievers can only take inch mags and I believe a few were built to take both. A lot of other parts are interchangable.
It better have some markings on it at least the maker of the reciever and the cal its in.The more info we got the more we can help ya/ tell you what it is.

We didnt take it apart , didnt have any tools on hand (duh...) But he called me a minute ago and aparently, he said he never saw the markings before lol!
Heres the numbers on what parts: Receiver: 8109877 Action: d9602104 Charging handle: b61962302 He said the letter D on the action is foreign looking with the marks over it. Seems like hes thinking about trading again, he keeps going back and forth! He really likes the ruger. Last edited by t0talkos; 01-10-2007 at 10:20 PM. |

BTW you dont need tools to take it apart you need a quarter lever on the left side of the lower reciever behind the safety will break the weapon open shotgun style, pull the bolt/bolt carier out, unscrew the hinge pin with a quarter, press the side button on the front gas block plug and rotate to remove the gas piston/springIf you can take pics and are still intrested take a pic of the following: whole gun side view both sides front sight post/gas block close up rear sight area close up inside of the front of the magwell where the front of the magazine would fit right side of the mag well outside
