AR-10 Makers

I saw Armalite, and their's are listing for like $2k. Who else makes AR-10s. I'm looking at possibly stepping up to the .308 caliber for fun and hunting.

i like these and hope to get one in the next couple of years.

they have standard length ar10s for right at the same pricing, and a "varmint" rifle for a couple hundred more.

note that they aren't available until winter 07 or so depending on the model.

I have been looking at DPMS arms, but the more I like I think other semi auto 308 could be just as fun for less

For brevity, the new ArmaLite rifles are collectively referred to as AR-10s. Four models of the AR-10B series exist:

AR-10B: The base model of the new ArmaLite line. It is patterned after early 1960 era rifles, and is produced largely for nostalgic reasons. The charging handle looks like an upside down trigger and is located at the front of the carrying handle. AR-10A2; virtually identical to the M16A2 service rifle, but caliber .308.

Each rifle is matched by a similar carbine: virtually identical save for a 16 inch long barrel. The T carbine is equipped with a standard trigger rather than the match trigger of the AR-10(T) rifle.

My vote goes for the Stoner SR-25. Beautiful rifle and many of the parts are interchangeable with and AR-15, so if you have both, you can cut back on spares. Don't have one yet, but it is on the list...

DPMS has their LR .308. Basically their version of an AR-10.I usually see them in the $1100-$1300 range.
