ruger p345? a new condender in my quest for a handgun

stumbled upon this one today at the gun shop...(just like the taurus pt145)

i like it.

still don't know if it will oust the sp101, but i like it...

condenders

1. sp101
2.taurus pt145
3. ruger p345
4. ???...

(i'm only considering .357 and .45acp,remember. its my personal preference for a SHTF gun...both calibers can be found anywhere, anytime.)

I like a .45, especially for a weapon that I trust with my life.

Being that I own a Taurus Mil Pro PT745C, I am partial to the PT145. I have 1,000 rounds through my Taurus without a single malfunction of any kind, ever. It is comfortable to hold in my hand, compact, and easy to conceal. I also like that it's DAO.

I dislike the fact that it doesn't have a LH'ed mag release option. My biggest problem with the Taurus is finding holsters. The Fobus SP11B fits it well for a RH'er, but the SP11LH doesn't. SUpposedly, the HK1LH fits it for a lefty. I've heard that holsters made for Springfield XD40's tend to fit the PT745/145 well.

The PT145 and 745 use the same slide and FCG. The polymer frame and magazine are different, but that's it. The PT145 frame is 1/8" wider than the 745. Last year's 145 is DAO, like mine, but now the MilPro series is SA/DA.

If you intend to buy a pistol for SHTF purposes, you really ought to buy a 1911. It's chambered in .45ACP, super reliable, accurate, and mags and parts can be found for it damn near anywhere. If you don't own one yet, you really need one before any of the abovementioned pistols (for SHTF).

For CCW, I love my Taurus.

Why? There are lots of 1911 that have been modded and are unreliable. Plus they are spendy, upwards of 800-1000. Accuracy is in how the gun fits. I can't shoot anything with a buddies kimber but with my Sig I'm very accurate.

There are a few guns I'd look at for SHTF.

I will be picking up a PT-145 on WEDNESDAY

I sold a Firestorm 1911 that was a POS and the only other models I handled were too much $ for me.

Where the hell are you shopping?

I picked up a NIB Springfield Commander for 400$ at a local gun show. Yes it needed some breaking in. About an hour with some valve compound, working the action and dry firing took care of it.

I paid 550$ for my used Series 80 Colt. Needed nothing to shoot well. Nothing at all.
I added the grip, spring guide, and extended safety simply because I like em.

I have added the Pachmyers and extended safety to the Commander also.

The new Taurus 1911 is right around 600-650$ and has a bunch of nice options. All the mags have had positive reviews, but I have yet to get one.

I think the 1911 is the perfect sidearm because it has so much after market support, it's easy to work on, and any problems have been more then documented. But most importantly it fits my hand and I can shoot it well. As mentioned many many times, if it doesn't fit you, doesn't matter how well made the piece is.

I have the Ruger KP345

I love mine and it's my main carry gun. I can hit center mass at 25 yard with not much effort. It fits my hand well and feeds everything I have thrown at it from WWB to Wolf to Remminton to Cor-Bon, to Federals. Feeds and shoots it all and asks for more.
