I get my 7.62x39 ammo from a guy named Bob. Bob drives a plain white van and I don't ask him too many questions. His 7.62x39 comes in red and blue packs and is assembled at the Barnaul Machine Tool Plant. Currently, Bob asks $130 for 1000rds. Bob used to ask $70/1000 rds 5 years ago.

I suspect Bob isn't his real name...

i was gonna buy 1000 rounds at the local gunshow, but after doing the math, the 100 value pack of FMJ winchesters at the local gunrange (20 bucks or so) turns out to be almost even.

I've had nothing but good experience with it in my AK , other than being steel cased and dirty , it cycles the fucker everytime with no misfires/duds. Put a few hundred through one of my AR's also without problems.

I got 500rds of Wolf for my 40 S&W Sigma for $79.99 at Cabellas. Shot about 1 box and had a jam on every clip. It seemed like the cases were expanding and getting stuck in the chamber. One I had to tap out with a punch and you could see light through a little pinhole in the side of the case. That shit will not go in my gun again.
I got a 60 rds of Wolf 7.62 soft points for my friends SKS. I'll see how those do.

I've have shot literally thousands of rounds of Wolf 7.62x39.
Much of it was in a plain white box before they changed the name to Wolf.

The wolf ammo has proven quite reliable, fairly accurate, and the biggest thing is that it is cheap. I have had a couple of stove pipes, and one case that ripped in two. From the taper forward stayed in the chamber, the rest ejected. The next round into the chamber obviously didn't let the bolt close.
I finally yanked the bolt open to find the remainder of the case pressed on the unfired cartridge.
I still have the pieces in a drawer.

Wolf ammo is not near as accurate as Remington Core locked or Winchester pointed soft point ammo. I have shot some amazing groups with the remington and Winchester ammo. However, the wolf ammo is still probably as accurate as about any shooter off hand.

I have shot quite a bit of wolf 9mm with no memorable problems.

Shot a good bit of Wolf 7.62x39 myself without any problems, both hollow point and FMJ, bought from several different places and different lot numbers. It's great for what you pay.. you'd be hard pressed to reload anything for that price.

www.aimsurplus.com has it for 150 bucks per 1000 rounds, in 3 different brands, Wolf, Bear, and Golden Tiger. Shipping is about 15 bucks.

Yeah, that's about going rate for Golden Tiger/Silver Bear online. I'd like to know what they're selling it at gun shows for so I know whether to just buy online or pick it up next time there's a show nearby.
